Travelle at The Langham offers an online calligraphy workshop to give participants the opportunity to learn a new skill in the comfort of their own home on Thursday, May 28 at 5:00 pm Local instructor Ricki DiCola of r + ink leads an online calligraphy workshop for people 16 years and older. During the class – which is also a fundraiser for the Greater Chicago Food Depository – participants learn the art of beautiful handwriting that can be used to personalize cards, notes, and gifts.
No special materials are needed, as participants are encouraged to use what they already own – whether that includes colored pencils, markers, or even crayons! While the art of calligraphy only uses a few techniques, it requires a lot of practice. DiCola has been practicing calligraphy for 25 years and still practices daily. She teaches participants proper brush technique – including pressure, sizing, and spacing. With people writing letters now more than ever, this calligraphy class teaches how to personalize cards, envelopes, presentations, presents, and more.

The cost of the May 28 calligraphy workshop is $10 with all proceeds going to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
